One of the most underrated skills in life,
is having the courage to be disliked.
As I was walking along the Oregon coast,
watching the sunset meet the ocean,
amidst the rain(bows) and sunshine that is inherent to Portland,
I remembered the tale of Galileo and his classical relativity.
It changed everything. For him as well as the rest of humanity.
For standing up to the truth, the catholic inquisition placed Galileo under house arrest – for the rest of his life. For the rest of humanity, it was the cornerstone that every scientific discovery rested upon.
Galileo was no fool. He knew what his unorthodox views would cost him. Yet he had the courage to go through with it.
Consider the things that hold you back from doing what’s right. If you are not afraid of being disliked, what would you do differently, and how would you change the course of human history?
